The Master’s Degree course in “Valorisation of territories and sustainable tourism”, class of LM-80 degrees, activated for the first time in the academic year. 2018-2019, is part of a more general rationalization and improvement of the training offer of the University of Genoa. In the academic year 2024-2025 the “new” course was activated, remodeled and revised based on the experience of previous academic years.
The LM-80 is characterized as an original and innovative study path which aims to valorise the link between “tourism” and “territory”, intertwining global and local dimensions, and favoring a geo-ecological and interdisciplinary approach, where the planning, promotion, communication and management of the valorisation of territories and sustainable tourism systems are aspects that are closely interconnected and integrated, qualifying a skill that is intended to be developed in the graduate.
The Master’s Degree Course [LM] in “Valorisation of territories and sustainable tourism” trains high-profile and specialized figures capable of evaluating the critical issues and potential of territories and providing concrete elements to implement local development and valorisation policies. These professional figures are: geographer, editor of technical texts in the geographical and tourism fields, planner and specialist territorial mediator.
In offering students a highly professionalizing training course, the LM-80 intends to attract three-year graduates from the following courses, already active in the University of Genoa: Tourism Sciences (at the POLO of Imperia), Communication Sciences (Old Order), Media Communication and Society and to a lesser extent: Modern Languages and Cultures, Environmental Sciences, Geological Sciences, Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Education and Training Sciences. Students from L6 Bachelor’s Degrees in Geography present in many Italian universities have direct access to the LM-80.
To support the verification of the adequacy of the graduate's personal preparation, a pre-enrolment must be carried out so as to be included in the lists of students who must take the test which consists of a simple interview. Subsequently, if the test is successful, enrollment is confirmed.
You will not have to pay anything for pre-registration and the verification test. Payment of the registration fee and the regional tax is expected upon confirmation of enrolment.
The test consists of:
- an interview to test your geographical preparation. In particular, the mastery of the key concepts of geographical-territorial analysis, with particular reference to tourism and the valorisation of territories and related study methods;
- a test of spoken knowledge of the English language, with an English language teacher of the Course who certifies a B1 level.
This requirement is met by possession of a certificate of knowledge of the English language at a level of at least B1, issued by an accredited body.
